The original virtual experience
When we pray the Stations of the Cross, we make a spiritual pilgrimage to Jerusalem and walk with Jesus on the way to Calvary and his Crucifixion. At Mass, we worship God, body and soul- with all our senses and with different prayer postures; standing, sitting, kneeling, blessing ourselves with the sign of the cross, clasped hands, genuflecting. When we pray the Stations, we should make every effort to use the proper prayer postures as well- standing, walking, kneeling, genuflecting. By the end, we may feel some physical discomfort. This small suffering unites us to Christ and gives us a little taste of the great suffering Christ endured for us.
If you are unable to come to church and pray the Stations of the Cross here, please use one of these videos to help you make your spiritual pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The Stations of the Cross are traditionally a Lenten devotion, prayed on Fridays. But it of course may be prayed during any season, at any time.
