The Word of God
What is the Bible? How did it get written? Who wrote it? Get the answers to these questions and more! Watch the Catholic Central videos below and then the "Walk Through Your Study Bible" video for some background information before you pick up your Bible and start reading.

pray with the bibleThere are many different ways to pray with the Word of God. You can try Ignatian Meditation or Lectio Divina (a how-to can also be found in the back of your Study Bible). You might try bookmarking the "vignettes" of the Mysteries of the Rosary and as you pray the Rosary, read the Scripture passages in full or a few of the verses as you meditate on the Mystery. Try different prayer methods and find what works for you. Some people change it up every few months (or weeks, even days) others stick with one way their whole lives.
|
You might also want to try journaling as a form of prayer. Get a notebook that will be for Bible Journaling only. At the top of the page, write down the Scripture passage that you've read and are reflecting on; what were your thoughts as you read? Feelings? What did or didn't you understand? Was there a verse or phrase that really "spoke" to you?
Read, reflect and write.
how to navigate
|
Watch this short video to help you learn how to navigate through your Catholic Youth Study Bible. Then start reading! Pick a Bible Reading Plan to start, this can be one of the plans in your Bible or an option below; you can also follow the Daily Mass readings. After you become more familiar with navigating through Scripture and better understand the overall story of Salvation, start to read individual books of the Bible. Read the Gospels, then move into the Old Testament with Genesis, Exodus and some of the prophets.

Bible reading plans
FYI: The Mass readings are chosen to be read together at Mass because they relate to one another- so that would be my first choice for a reading plan to start. The Sunday Mass readings can be found in your study Bible.
